Albuquerque police said Tiffany Toribio, 23, confessed to suffocating her 3-year-old son, Tyruss "Ty" Toribio, as he slept on the climbing gym - a crime so cold-blooded that neighbors struggled to comprehend it, and even veteran officers became choked up.

...

Toribio was homeless and sleeping in the park, having been kicked out of her mother's home and a friend's apartment in the days before her son's death because she was ignoring the boy and withholding affection, investigators said.

"What makes this story especially sad was when asked the reason why she took Ty's life, Tiffany said that she did not want him to grow up with no one caring about him the same way that she had grown up with no one caring about her," said Police Chief Ray Schultz, his eyes watery and his voice thick with emotion.

Again, I say. Yay for being an adult in your majority and untouchable until you actually Do Something Bad.

(Do you REALLY think I'd toss someone OUT if I was concerned about their attitude towards their child?!)

The amount of glurge in this is almost infuriating in the bargain. Coulda, should, woulda. The upend of this is that the kid was at risk, both he and his mother were dumped on their heads and only now is the kid special, sweet, mild...and valued.

And at the first opportunity, his mother will kill herself - count on it. Or the courts will for it for her.

Wish you'd been at the park. Bah. Two places, two opportunities to call the cops. Nobody did. BAH TWICE.

(And where the bleep was his father? Don't bother.)

Wow, the media is just all over the fact that thousands across the country showed up in groups to protest yesterday.

I've tried to read the reports. Mixed in with a TON of advertising, each and every time. (You know this pisses me off, right? You don't want to inform me of anything, NAAAOOOW. You want me to buy soap. Lots of it.)

I'll admit, the site I'm quoting has ads, too. And a ton of commenters with agendas. At least I won't get a seizure trying to look at the site from all the flashing gizmos.

But instead of just screeching 'YER DUMB' - here are some of the statements claimed to be behind this whole event - with enough drill-down to satisfy anyone.

I hope everyone had fun yesterday. You got used by people who only wanted to pick your pockets SOME MORE at your expense, while telling you (very convincingly, I will admit) that the people who are working in your best interests...aren't. They aren't the Right People, after all. I know what you're looking for. These aren't the droids you think they are.

I'm still a little peeved that there are STILL people taking advantage of folks with the BEST motivations on the planet - and get used by some Astroturf-selling carpetbaggers.

And people let them. It's FUN.

Don't worry too much. If anyone has something to say, they're saying it - just friends-locked, cut-tagged, hidden away where nobody can point out in clear language they've been had, continue to be had...and that they really need a better hobby or focus for their social clatch.

People who deserve better treatment by the people they've put their trust in. Instead of scaring them, insulting their intelligence and making fools out of them. I'd had enough of that with the first Bush term, thank you very much.

(And thousands are turning out today to mourn the death one 8 year old child. I saw thousands turn out at one polling place on election day. Thousands in a country the size of ours does not impress me.)

In case you were wondering if you'd ever find out who was paying for the care or how you would find out -

The LA Times coughs up another one.

This time? Four babies - and mother-to-be moved to the county facility because she has no insurance.

And this one is older than me.

People want to hang the doctor. Me, I'd like to hang a newspaper.

Reached by telephone, the woman, who is about five months pregnant, denied that Kamrava was her doctor. She said her doctors urged her not to talk to the media because she is already dealing with a high-risk pregnancy and doesn't need more stress.

"Please respect my privacy," she said.

(The Times has confirmed the information through several independent sources, who spoke on the condition that they not be named.)

At least I can burn the damn things.

We have a multiple hundred BILLION 'economic stimulus' trying to get approved in the congress to offset what some very questionable people - who took our money in the billions last fall, and we don't even know their names, it's too much work - and one woman with more children than people are comfortable with is being hung out to dry everywhere you look for less than $500 a month in food stamps. And maybe some SSI. (Anyone ever draw SSI out there? Raise your hand. *raises hand* It doesn't pay for DICK, just in case most of you who have the privilege of never needing to ask for what your taxes paid for want to know.)

It took a Presidential Order to keep these same, anonymous people from paying themselves MORE than $500,000 every year while accepting a handout from the taxpayers at the same time. In the meantime? Yeah. There's more than one person in this category mind. We aren't even allowed to know HOW many of these people are taking our money in this quantity - let alone WHO.

Karl Rove must be ROLLING on the floor laughing right now. Rush is just counting his money. Again.

SHINY SHINY SHINY

(And the family that did 'the right thing' and removed themselves from the gene pool when they decided that not having jobs meant not deserving their lives? Wow. Gone from the news as if they never been. As if that was the RIGHT thing to do. Gods, people - WAKE UP.)

What IS this to you? In the face of this larger grab for 'your taxes' - what is one woman and fourteen children? HUH?

There are structures, and methods to deal with anything this situation creates. There are Eyes on her, and her family. They exist for them - they exist for anyone in their community. They'll get their share - and no more than that. It's hardly a standard of living better than those of us who work, plan and prepare have - that's plain.

So. What is this about, anyway?

The hue and cry? Is far more about the criers than the subject, methinks. People - it's not about what you know, how your found out or if it's right or wrong. LOOK. Stop jammering and THINK.

If you're tired of scammers, there are plenty - nay we don't KNOW how many - still having a blast in plain sight and nobody is demanding our due of them. WHO they are. WHERE they live. WHY they need the money.

But go kick the woman and children around some more. G'head. They're the easy target.

I do not understand how people can't see that it isn't the woman using them - but the people who see their interest as a way to make a mint off of them that are. USING them. And then spit on them. While other people, who are never named, never held accountable and allowed to continue on their merry way - can.

Honestly.

Amazing.

I have never been so happy to have a paid account in my life.

There is no way I'd make a single dime for an advertiser today. Not with the current topic at hand.

Gaming and food. Two great things that go great together!

(Certainly puts a spin on 'what's for dinner' doesn't it?)

Got an alert from Ops at AOD this AM:

Heads up.

She's 14. Headed for Ikkicon, at last report and is expected to do the anime con circuit until she lands in California.

He's 40, work(ed) at a convenience store and sent LOTS of sexts to her. Mom had the phone after kid was grounded...oops.

They are probably traveling together. You guys know the drill - if you see 'em, find the 911 button and do not engage. (But keep 'em in sight.)

Happy Friday - and all that.
