Look, it's not like you intentionally lied and said it was H1N1. If it looked like H1N1, and you were told to stay home by the advice of doctor, as was your husband, the only way to find out that it wasn't is through testing, and it takes time for that testing to come back. Surely your employers might understand that your doctor's orders were to be obeyed until you knew for sure that you would not bring H1N1 down on your entire company.

It's not uncommon for doctors to test for strep in addition to other things when there is extreme respiratory distress and you either (a) have a child or (b)work with kids. I had strep throat myself a couple of years back (wouldn't have known without testing for it), and it was nasty and vile and wouldn't go away. So it would be something your docs would want to test for in addition to H1N1.
