The Day...Is Saved!

Here it is, folks.

It's unconstitutional. I said that. And I am pleased happy ecstatic relieved you-name-it - to report that the powers that be agreed.

You want to get married - you can marry the person of your choice.

This is not a religious issue. This is a legal matter, and that's that.

It'll be appealed, yes I know.

But for right now? I feel like the mud is finally off my face again.

Equal Protection.

That was what the Iowa Supreme Court cited in striking down the law making gay marriage illegal in Iowa.

I've also heard others ask questions ranging from when we got to vote on heterosexual marriage to why is allowing gays to marry a threat to my marriage?

(and if any of this comes across as incoherent... sorry... didn't get much sleep and I'm jetlagged to hell and back)

I really wish I could respond to your It's unconstitutional with the proper level of 'duh!' but there are too many people blinded by their religious and cultural bigotry in this country...

So instead, I offer a loud WHOOP! and assorted cavortings about.

Yeah, its going to the Supreme Court soon. I think that's why the Religious Right nutters are so afraid of Ellan Kagan getting her robes because they thinks she's gay. So even the Supreme Court is going to be hard pressed to turn this back around against LGBTQs.

I shouldn't be this surprised that a ruling like this was made based on reason and logic, but I am, and I am overjoyed at it.
