Just a thought -

But all of you who just got PS3s and Wiies? (Not one of them myself. Wii Wii. Say it with me!)

You had to unplug something, didn't ya? Gonna put it away for a while?

Don't.

Somebody can use that old Gamecube, Atari, PS1, whathaveyou. Check the local hospital, long-term care facility or someone like Free Geek.

Particularly since Free Geek was just robbed.

Welcome to the holidays. Where people turn into slavering money junkies in search of the perfect fix.

Me? I need to get to work.

Gah. Poor FreeGeek.

We have a PS2 but it's wearing out so fast that we wouldn't give it away. It works erratically, and hasn't got a lot of life left in it. It's old, and we've used it for both gaming and DVD-watching. Eventually, [livejournal.com profile] deyo will get a Wii, not a PS3.

I wonder how many other EBs and Gamestops got robbed during the PS3 and Wii launches. Seriously some people are so ridiculously heartless it just reminds me why my faith in humanity is as low as it is.

Can't trust anyone anymore.

In most circumstances I'd be happy to donate my old belongings to a charity, but I never actually give up old systems for a few reasons. First, as they age, they require more and more maintenance and upkeep. Few people know how to do this. Right at least. Second, it's actually bad for the systems to take advantage of the backwards compatibility, because it wears out the internal gears (particularly those affecting the laser) that much faster. So anytime I get a hankering for an old game I just up and change out. But definitely a good suggestion.

Very good suggestion.

For the recorrd, we aren't getting the new stuff for many months, as we just got a gamecube in February.
