Guess what.

Barry Manilow has a "new" album coming out this month.

Except there isn't a new track on it. Not even covers...maybe they've been put through some remastering. Maybe.

I could have built the entire album myself out of what I've got ripped in iTunes.

BAH.

There definitely is something to be said for waiting for something you like...and getting faked out.

Wow, it's like someone took New Box Set by the Barenaked Ladies and made it into a real concept.

(Grins) Well, it's been a bad few years for Barry. What with people using his music to scare off hot rodders. Though he handled it well.

She cited an example from Sydney, Australia, where officials piped Barry Manilow tunes into a park to ward off hot-rodders.

Officials said it worked. But in published reports, Manilow decried the tactical use of his tunes, suggesting they might drive some people to light candles or dance.

I've had that happen with a few Peter Paul and Mary albums, where 95% of the album is retreads of previous tracks, with perhaps 1 or 2 new tracks. Both "Around the Campfire" and "Songs of Conscience and Concern" were like that.

guess that's what you get when you have Simon Cowell consulting on your record deals.
