Note to self -

Next time you go to Trader Joe's, buy port.

Take advice from friends on their favorites, but buy port. More than one kind.

Because you're getting hit right and left and center with recipes that call for it, and the drool is really getting messy.

Love, me.

I thought you were going to say "because port party." Oh well. :)

You know, that cheese isn't getting any younger...which is okay...but you guys aren't getting any closer, either, which is to the bad.

But yeah. Port with the cheese. Drat. Drooling again....^^

BevMo has a damn good selection of ports as well... my 'everyday' is Graham's 10 year old, but we used our wedding gift card for a bottle of the 20 year old - port basically keeps forever, so this will be the COMAD & Feast of the Dead Bird port...

[livejournal.com profile] nytshaed works at BevMo - I should chat her up on the matter.

"Feast of the Dead Bird" indeed. I am much amused.

Drool is the reason that they invented keyboard skins.

Maryland law, beer, wine and liquor in liquor stores only. So no TJ's booze.

No alcohol in PA markets either.

Kinda weird to this California kid, but oh well.

Used to be that way here, too.

I was introduced to TJs as "the place" to buy wine - so the association stuck. ^^

I still remember seeing "Tequila of the Gods" and "Vodka of the Gods" while in a TJs out in LA. My friends and I joked about that for years.

They also carry "Gunga Gin" at TJ's. Another of my favorite booze names.

Private label need not be dull - I love TJ's that way.

I will take your advice!
ANd cheese, from whole foods...

I buy my port at TJ's. Since you say something about taking advice from friends on their favorites, I'll say now that my favorite port currently is Warre Ruby Oporto, which I buy at TJ's whenever I need port. My other favorite is a 10-year-old Taylor Fladgate port, but that one I more usually manage to find at Cost Plus Imports.

Tradition says that once you open a bottle of good port one must drain it. Be careful what you cook. :)
