Volunteer. Make a call, trade some time - if I'm any guess, they're just as hurting for funds as anyone else.

Volunteering has been keeping me busy during my down time from job searching. I've been visiting my grandfather (early stage dementia) to give my grandmother a break, and volunteering for the MS Society and Red Sox Foundation.

It's amazingly rewarding.
