Just thought you'd like this, it's a recipe from a friend of mine for what he declares are the most awesome scones/biscuits evar:

2 C Flour
1 t Salt
4 t Baking Powder
2 T Sugar
5 T Butter, Cold
3 Eggs
3/4 C Heavy Cream
1 T Water

Optionals: Fruits, Nuts, Spices Herbs, Cheese, etc, etc.

Vastly easier with a food processor, but can be done by hand.

A) Mix all the dry ingredients except for 1T of the sugar. Cut the butter into the flour. This is the food processor step, really. Or you can just knead little bits of butter with little bits of flour until all the butter is mixed in, and it's fine-grained and not lumpy.

B) Beat 2 of the eggs into the cream. Combine with dry stuff with as few strokes as possible. Add in any additives, stir as little as possible.

C) Turn the dough out onto a floured surface, knead it about 5-10 times. If you want biscuit-shaped scones, then roll it out and cut it with a drinking glass. If you wanted lumpy shaped scones, just grab off likely-sized bits and press them into big coins.

D) Beat the last egg with a smidge of water, brush the tops of the scones, then sprinkle with sugar.

E) Bake 7-9 minutes @ 450F

It was a droolfest until I came to "butternut squash." On the other hand, that means more for you.
