Uh.

There are reasons one shouldn't use the "friends of friends" feature when bored.

Like this:

Feeling really brave?

Uh huh. Huuurrrr. You go first, Indy!

Yeah, that was fun to open my friends list and see that at the top. There's none so queer as folk!

You got it.

That's so weird. I know it's food, but it looks totally unappetizing.

Plastic cheese. I'm kinda worried about the rolled up spaghetti, too. Is it rolled around something?

[identity profile] auntiesiannan.livejournal.com 2004-07-31 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
man, that's some scary-ass bento.

Can't entirely blame you - I kinda like bento. I just don't like bento that stare back at me, yanno?

Wonder what they'd make Chococat out of....

[identity profile] feyandstrange.livejournal.com 2004-08-01 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, childhood flashback, sorta.

WHen I was a picky little kid who wouldn't eat, my mom would put a slice of baloney on a plate and cut it with a knife to make smiley faces, or a pumpkin-carve kinda face, things like that, to get me to eat stuff.

jebus. Is that American cheese? I don't know if I am afraid it is, or afraid of what it is if it's not.
ext_20420: (Default)

[identity profile] kyburg.livejournal.com 2004-08-01 08:45 am (UTC)(link)
American cheese, not likely - but some close cousin, I'm sure. It just looks...so plastic...yeah. *brrr*

[identity profile] isolt.livejournal.com 2004-08-01 08:11 am (UTC)(link)
I find that the scariest part of the kitty-cat bento is that the eyes and whiskers are made with seaweed. Seaweed and cheese. Two great tastes that taste great together. Or not.

They put mayonnaise on pizza. With corn. Yummmola.

don't forget the potato salad.

[identity profile] elfwench.livejournal.com 2004-08-01 08:20 am (UTC)(link)
Makes me wish I could read it! But it looks like a child's lunch to me. :) I think it's cute. Imagine being 6 years old and seeing that in your lunchbox. :D

[identity profile] kyburg.livejournal.com 2004-08-01 08:47 am (UTC)(link)
Imagine being your son, and one of his girlfriends in high school gives him this for lunch - in competition with other girls for his attention.

..

[identity profile] studiogaijin.livejournal.com 2004-08-01 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, I'm not going to get this all, but I'll try to at least let you know if I'm not sure about part of it.

The top say "nekochan bento" - I guess "kitty box lunch" would be a decent translation.

The left side, top to bottom says:

chiizu - cheese
shiso - perilla (an herb, apparently)
korokke - croquette

The bottom, left to right says:

???? daikon no oemono - I'm not sure about the reading of the first two characters, but I think they mean "cut" and "dried". Daikon is a type of radish. As for "oemono"...I'm not sure what it means. :(

supageteii - spaghetti

Right side, top to bottom:

hamu - ham
nori - dried seaweed
uinnaa - "wiener"/hot dog I guess...
furuutsu - fruit

Hopefully someone else will read this and correct me or fill in the blank spots, but at least most of it's covered and should be correct. :)
ext_20420: (Default)

[identity profile] kyburg.livejournal.com 2004-08-01 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, thanks! You were able to fill in a lot of the blanks for me. (I've got a passable verbal understanding, but my reading ability is still nearly nil...bah!)

Shiso - that's what turns ume plums red - so that's what that was, okay....

Daikon no oemono? Pickled. Pickled Daikon - fresh pickled, too. Yummola.

The rest is history.

[identity profile] breau.livejournal.com 2004-08-01 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
yup. seen many many of those. when i was working in the yochien (japanese kindergarten) in Hyogo-ken, it was like some weird competition to see who had the cutest lunch.

[identity profile] kyburg.livejournal.com 2004-08-01 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Tell me, did the kids eat the ears first there too?

[identity profile] breau.livejournal.com 2004-08-05 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Hahahah.. I don't know .. probably.

You should have seen their faces when I pulled an apple out of my bag and ate it, skin and all.

You'd think I ate my own arm or something.
