Fear and loathing -

I'm picking up the new glasses today. MY FIRST PAIR OF BIFOCALS WHEE.

Fuckit. They're Vera Wang, should be very classy and nobody will know. Once again, I'll be able to see down the road, and the dashboard inside the car again. Maybe.

Hope they don't make me seasick. That'll be expensive. First I pay for the glasses, then I pay for the cleaning bill - and then new clothes. No. Don't want to.

I raided the old and nearly worn out archives for a computer bag I could use until I can put some decent money towards a new one - I got a really cheap-ass bag after Christmas to put the laptop Jim got me in, promising myself I'd upgrade within a few months.

Well, in a few months, I wore it out to falling apart. THAT cheap-ass.

Old and nearly worn out, had served me well through three other laptops? Even had the postcards and room bill receipt from our wedding trip to Hawaii in 2001 still in it?

The cats had used it for a pee box. THANK YOU VERY MUCH AUGH.

So the computer still sits on the kitchen table, its peripherals still littered around it. I need to go find something to put my computer in. And slather it with Tiger Balm.

Also, in the news - another family using our agency got their referral yesterday and posted pictures to the Yahoo group. I think their LID was 10/27/05. You do the math. (But what a cutie - jealous, moi? Why not!)

I've had bifocals since 6th grade.

I always get queasy for a few days, but other than feeling uncomfortable, things usually settle down and you're fine.

Let me look around and see if I have a 'free' serviceable laptop bag I can donate. I recall seeing one in a closet that fit my older laptop but not my new widescreen version. I could possibly leave it at your Mom's place if that would help. I'll return sometimes this weekend to this post and let you know if I can locate it.

I'll look this weekend and let you know what I find.

I found it....

I found a nice IKON brand bag, with shoulder strap. Black. It should do your laptop proud. Now you have to email me an address to drop it in Hemet...

I'm on my second pair of no-line bifocals. I like them a lot. I have found that there's an initial sensation of not being able to see your feet while you are walking, but you get used to it in a few days.

What does "LID" stand for?

I agree - what is LID?
We are adopting through a group called US Asian Affairs that friends had a very good experience with. Our paperwork got to the Chinese embassy last month.

Log-In Date. The date the dossier is logged and accepted in with the Chinese government. Our paperwork went out the last week in February, but we haven't gotten our actual LID yet - that's when the clock actually starts. Right now, referrals are being estimated at 16 months past LID - that's what we're being told.

I've also been told it can take some time to actually get the LID - somewhere around 45 days or more.

Yeah, I've been wearing no-lines for about ten years. I'm on my second pair and need to get a third. It's worth the extra bucks not to have the line.

I got my first pair of bifocals around the age of 10 and got rid of them, ecstatically, around 12.

Me and my silly lazy eye.
