There is such a press to buy something, it almost defines the season.

Resist.

Don't forget this is a season for YOU, as well.

It's a time for preparation for things ahead, for refreshing your memory on the things this season commemorates. (Pick a faith. Each one celebrates either an arrival of great change for the better, memory of a miracle of faith or rededicates commitments to community and faith.)

It's not all about rushing around to Get Things Done Before.

So take the day to get ready. To sit down, have that cup of tea and ponder. Plan. Think. Enjoy the space inside your head where all things begin - as they say, cherish your dreams. That's where your future lies.

One of the "advantages" to living with a real life version of The Grinch is the fact that we just don't bother stressing about the holidaze. I put up some decorations and we do the obligatory family thing but rushing around, buying presents and attending a million and one holiday functions isn't our thing. It took some getting used to at first but I'm finding that I don't miss it -- no stress and I pick and choose who I'll gift with homemade goodies rather than feeling stressed about finding presents for some random person who is on my list for god knows what reason.
