Oh, yuck, indeed - discovered a not-in-use piece of tubing when we moved the fridge in the new place, in an effort to see if it could be/was worth repairing (according to the repairman, no- it's the compressor and not worth fixing - AND, no charge for the service call, which took well over an hour - that outfit gets my business from now on) - told R the replacement will not have an icemaker, so he's going to get under the house and shut off the water at the valve.
