Slow and unresponsive -
Oct. 12th, 2010 02:23 pmAnd LJ has been completely borked, too. In all honesty, anything has to work fast and well for me to dedicate time to it these days. Had to 'work from home' Monday due to the holiday, and while there was plenty of work, it wasn't the kind I got paid for. (Just as well - the mail server had issues, so wouldn't have gotten much done as it was, but.)
I look back on yesterday and wish I'd had a twin anyway. Never got to the kitchen, never got to the washing machine to put more dirty things in it - well, until 9:00 PM, anyway.
But I am mighty, anyway.
Kid and I got Jim's car into the shop, picked up the rental for him, went to the park, had lunch with Tommy, took naps and picked Jim up from work again and took him to dinner! Kid also finished all his homework and did a large number of workbook pages in addition to it (kid LOVES homework - who am I to argue?), while I tried to get Real Work done.
I feel like I never sat down, though I am sure I must have sometime.
I took a day off last week! I did, I did - I even bought a round-trip airfare to fly up to San Francisco for the day, made a killing on a the flight and BARTed where I needed to go once I got off the plane. I only took my purse - and I'm here to tell you. Flying on a Wednesday morning? No problems with security, no problems with capacity.
Kid was in school, fella was at work and I had a paid day off - so I ran with it.
I fell asleep on the plane, both ways. I got to Borderlands and bought books! I even got to the Japanese baths and took advantage of them - and that's after at least two years of trying. (It was lovely not to have a sore spot on my body for a few hours.)
Afterward, I strolled leisurely through the mall in J-Town, met up with Rey and Gypsy, ate boat sushi and enjoyed a small amount of autonomy before they took me back to the airport and I enjoyed some Peet's in the terminal before sleeping my way home.
Lesson learned - nobody down here I'd trust with a massage appointment knows what the eff they're doing. Second, this is vital on occasion - and I wasn't mad for daydreaming for such a day for months ahead of Yom Kippur. Next time, I *might* go to Vegas.
The flight was cheaper than a day at Disneyland.
Posted a bunch of pictures to Facebook - I had pictures from kid's first dental visit, shooting off rockets and the last Target Free Saturday visit. (Seriously. Jim in a sumo suit. If you don't laugh, you have no soul.)
Don't have anything profound for you today. Too crispy around the edges.
