Took the day off so we could take Disney up on its offer to give a second day at the park for free - and did so on Jim's birthday.

We had breakfast at Goofy's Kitchen (with Our Meg and Walkyr, who were already there spending the entire week...**envy**), and asked nicely if we could spend the entire day at California Adventure as we had never been, and hey, it's free -

So we did.

I quickly discovered my phobia for heights has returned (it does, when I'm stressed enough) - and I'm noticing an increased level of discomfort traveling in the car at speed, another phobia that rears it's ugly head when I'm stressed.

That means, most rollercoasters are OUT. Not going to whine or cling, but it just doesn't look like fun today - hey, I'll hold your stuff - go for it.

If you are coming out to California for Anime Expo and plan to spend your entire time at the hotel and won't be able to see any part of California but the con floor and you plan to spend a day at Disneyland - I might suggest you visit California Adventure.

The Grand Californian Hotel is gorgeous. Past that, tiny facility, weird food courts, nice but pedestrian rides and that's about it. Hope you like the Beach Boys - they pipe the original versions of their tunes, caliope versions...depending on where you are, they redo them in the style where you are. A lot. Over and over again.

French fries remain french fries. French toast is french toast. And there were t-shirts for sale with peace signs on them.

However, there were clearly fly-over restrictions in effect - saw a blimp over in the distance get as close as the AA would allow, no closer and then it left; military helicopters the only ones coming over. Funny the cues you notice.

We are pink and pleasant today. I have two stuffed fishies from the midway area on Paradise Pier.

Escrow won't close again this week, but according to my agent, the closing is just so much of a formality and won't interfere with house hunting Saturday. There's food around the corner - full speed ahead!

"This war is making people pro-Saddam, because it's not fair that you come from outside and remove a president, even if he is a dictator," she declared. "You thought the Iraqis would join you and fight for their freedom, but people instead of fighting for their freedom are standing behind him. And this isn't what anyone wanted to see!"

Yeah, it matters. Even if he's a despot, it matters. As little as anyone wants to admit it.
