Was it
kiyone who drove home to Vegas after dinner at Shinsengumi last night? And
catsonmars, did you have any further issue resolving that check? GAH. Owe you one. Come back, and let's eat quietly together around that table again sometime. Soon.
I have a lot of reading to catch up on. I promise to look at all the posts. When I have more than two brain cells firing together. If you want a quick, from the hip - the first thing I saw was "Uh HUH" "Uh UH" a lot - then...
Hickory. Orangewood. Smoke from other fires. Radically unrelated fires. Like there was a lot of arguing in parallel - but nobody was really paying attention to what the other person was objecting to. Because of the HUGE issue the poster had themselves that was getting in the way.
And then add epithets and you pretty much have it. The word count expended was incredible. For that reason alone, I'm impressed.
Flattered, even. It means a LOT to the people talking. That's clear.
But it might take a day or two to untangle it all. Be patient with me while I go through the recovery.
While I was away from the computer, I had a houseful of progressives (and the lonely conservative who wandered in, unawares, and likely left that way) -
caitlin,
betnoir and her honey
western_slope,
n6vfp -
apositivevoice popped in briefly with a friend (nice to meetya!) - and two bottles of sake from her boss who couldn't make it. GOOD STUFF. Someone come and help me drink it! Bet also brought much sausage goodness, and BEER. Gotta love the beer. They need to come back and let me buy the beer in thanks. VERY nice. (Oh, and thanks for the chicken Alan. THANK YOU.)
She and Cait then spent most of the afternoon knitting/crocheting and it was a very mellow day overall. Surprising - I usually find it's easier to pop something in the DVD player when I have company. We did SO well just talking (and Alan really is an adept conversationalist, it's scary. But then again, he's a ham. I shouldn't be surprised...) and munching (and I brought out the single malt scotch from Suntory for them to try - a personal fave. 12 years old. Yummola.) it was almost a shame to break it down before heading over to Shinsengumi for dinner.
Made for a very long day. Got little sleep, thanks to BOOM-R-US going off all night - we had wake-up firecrackers this morning at 6:30. It's selfish of me - I really wanted to see
silverkun and
ceolyn again soon - but I am very, VERY happy they weren't here this weekend. The Cat sleeps so lightly, she wouldn't have gotten ANY sleep, and that makes for a miserable Cat. No, it wouldn't have been fair at all.
I am keeping my New Year's resolution to meet as many people off my friends list as I can - so far, so good! There really is something about getting to know people between the ears first. Really really.
