The old neighborhood is on fire. The best reference I can give is this is between the Ontario Airport and the Southern Renaissaince Faire site in Devore. Yes, I would be foolish to say it wasn't threatened or perhaps even gone by now.

The boss has been getting information all day via the OES and the FD. The cars here...here at the beach, 60 miles away, in the underground garage...are covered in black, sooty ash. You can chew the air. It's coloring everything in a gentle sepia.

They're calling it arson. Three separate fires.

When was George Bush going to visit Pendleton? He's going to be greeted by refugees.

I remember the last time we had fires like this. I remember staying over night at Cliff's parent's house in Sierra Madre because we thought we might have to evacuate his mother - that was 1993. It's a bittersweet memory - I stayed up all night thinking over a tough decision I had to make with regard to my involvement in the Quantum Leap convention. And the house woke up to six healthy young firemen in the driveway the next morning - *ahem* I like firemen. A lot.

And I resigned from the convention staff that day. To this day, I've never discussed the why - because Someone's Publicist claimed I would, to their detriment. Yah, right, dickweed. *zips lip*

I'm staying close to messenger services and the phone - we have family and friends and co workers in the path of this one.

I guess that solves the problem of the mountain lions near Rancho Cucamonga, too.

Sad. REAL sad.
