I had SBC out at the house this morning to check the inside wiring. They did such a good job of documentation, they're coming back tomorrow to be directed by Megapath to Find The Break. Sheesh.

The new computer has arrived - [livejournal.com profile] unclejimbo was home to accept delivery - and promptly dubbed it "Trogdor." He's also lost most of his coherence in his glee.

What am I thinking about?

1. 200 Mhz to 2.4 Ghz in one jump. That's big enough to support Premiere and do videos. I think it might need another stick of memory to do a good job.
2. 2 USB ports in the front. This means I can now sync up the Palms we have, use the web cam/digital camera [livejournal.com profile] silverkun gave us. I can now use those portable hard drives that you can add to your keychain or wear around your neck - but I'll need two devices with USB ports, for that. Hmm.
3. He got it on the network with no problem - wonder if he's gotten the printer installed.
4. Wonder if I can install Office 97 on it - and where the disks are. Otherwise, open source here I come!

And if I have to hide the power cord until work around the house gets done, I'll do it.

Poor Legacy looks lamer by the minute. Poor old girl. Reliability just isn't all that anymore.

If anyone wants to buy me additional icons for my birthday, I'd be a happy girl.

Failing that, I love bath fizzies. I've also updated my Amazon Wish list - check my profile for the link.

Chicago event had a court date yesterday which ended in a continuance. Stay tuned. *sigh* It's really getting hard on Mom - her son is ending up as big an asshole as her ex - I get the impression she doesn't want to see him get convicted, but it's hard to get around what's been done. She grew up with abuse, married it -- and now her son is the first male she's ever seen arrested for it. Sad. BTW, the step-mother is calling Mom up to Chicago to help out - there are still some brains working.

And I still haven't been able to talk to the kids. What must they be thinking of us?

It's time to get permission to get creative again - I'm delaying everything because this or that isn't up to snuff. Enough already. Time to get shit done so I can play again.

[livejournal.com profile] shadesong's LEWD sounds like a good idea - have everyone over once a week for the heck of it. She does it Monday nights - heck, we can do that too, can't we? Anyone in range want to come over for spaghetti feed and anime?

I tried the guava jelly - it kicks ass. It's also gorgeous.

Open Enrollment packages arrived today - yup, we're paying more. So much more, the company actually put a disclaimer in the cover letter suggesting we should look elsewhere privately for coverage. I did my paperwork and sent it back. I know better. Doing it this way also ensures the insurance remains in effect because it's paid through payroll deduction. Nope, no fudging the bills by not paying the insurance premium! And yes, I insured myself to the hilt and made Jim the beneficiary. Of course, I can insure him too - and did!

I think the kicky part is that I made Cedars-Sinai the backup beneficiary. If we die together, everything goes to the foundation.

More, as it happens. Such excitement.

Yay for new computer!

Best wishes on the Chicago thing.

Stupid health insurance companies...

*HUGS* to you and Jim.

(Are you still having the housewarming thing?)
