Wow, Chinese New Year sure tastes good -
Jan. 22nd, 2004 10:46 pmThe office went out to lunch today - to a very nice, upscale Chinese New Year luncheon at a seafood restaurant highly recommended.
Delish. I'll go into more detail later. Suffice it to say, I made Jim dinner this evening and nibbled on a tiny cup of soup with some bread. Didn't even finish the soup.
silverkun, that post is getting dangerously close to becoming a meme - and was too much damn fun.
*clears throat* I don't really care what Moveon.org has to say about it - CBS is NOT engaging in censorship - they're running a network and they make the rules. If an ad is not suitable for the Super Bowl, it's not going to run - and claiming that it's not just them by citing PETA's gripe at the same treatment is not helping their credibility. PETA are legitimate terrorists, not to mention loons.
We do not have a free press, chitlins. We have one that takes a whole lotta money to keep running - and the Super Bowl is not a protected political forum. It's a football game. You want to go into the subtle nuances of critical theory regarding such American rituals, we can go there. I have the sheepskin to prove I've already cleared that level.
For the money they'd have to spend on that one placement, that ad can run in many, many other markets, more often and get seen by morewomen people.
That's my two cents - which is more than I gave them for that project. Jeez.
ceolyn is working on getting the vote out. This makes a whole lot more sense. But I propose to go further than providing a link. I'm going to go get some registration forms and carry them with me - everywhere. Hey, you registered? Here - let me help you fill out the form and mail it. I'll even provide the stamps.
Go get some registration goodness for yourself!
Me, I want some yogurt and a good night's sleep.
