Remember the bake sale!
May. 7th, 2004 05:47 pmRemember the huge bake-a-thon?
I finally heard how it went down -
It turned out that the bake sale I did the goodies for was smack dab in the middle of the Long Beach gran prix - which is a no-no, because every hot dog vendor in town wants a piece of that action. And they have the licenses from the health department. A bunch of goons with brownies don't. They got shut down.
What did my resourceful leader do? Right. Went home, got on the internet and found the next nearest bake sale - which was in a residental park, far from the wandering eye of the Long Beach PD. They sold everything and raised $1200.00. "And $500 of it must have come from you!"
*preen* I'll take it. She wants to know if I can come by and help get some people registered to vote.
It's a bit short notice, but I'll see what I can do - Jim might just get a kick out of it just 'cos.
Smack me again for keeping Trigun on the shelf for two years. HARD. We finished watching the last disc last night and I'm still a bit gobsmacked. Is Adult Swim still asking what to broadcast next? How timely could this one be?
And if EVA is anime's take on the Old Testament, Trigun is anime's take on the New. You want to discuss it, let fly - so much for the "Anti-Christian" anime industry. (Honest, I've heard that. *twitch*) Suffice it say, some things are more universal than some would find comfortable....
About four episodes in, I was cackling and telling Jim that here was the one character he could cosplay without any help but some hair mousse. (He even eats the same damn donuts - don't waste your time with Krispy Kreme for that boy, just hand him the Hostess plain cake donuts and a gallon of cold milk with a glass. Happy Jim.) Even the same incredibly aquamarine eyes.
By the time we finished watching it, I was sure someone must have known him. Freaking Boy Scout.
*Yawn* Very long day. Very long week. Going to go get food court Japanese for dinner tonight -
Someone. If you want me to watch something, say so. Tell me it's good, that's great. Next time, MAKE me watch it.

Actually, Adult Swim began rerunning Trigun at 1 am Eastern time.
Now that you've seen the anime, you must get the manga. Because that? If you thought the anime was a testament to the New ... erm ... Testament, check out the books.
