Saturday Mornings -
May. 22nd, 2004 08:52 amYard work today - I swear it.
And then, a Moveon.org party from 1 - 4 ish (I need to get home) - because...
Jim has a coworker who is getting married today and he wants to pop in at the reception this evening after 6:00.
I think I can get the laundry washed and dried inbetween all that. Oh, and I have to go get a wedding present.
Jim is working a day shift today - instead of the night shift - oh please, let this become a trend. Waking and sleeping on weekends together would be such an improvement.
*~whine~*
He locked Hollow Bastion last night in Kingdom Hearts. I was sleeping on the couch. I wanted to watch, I really did - but after Shrek 2 and dinner, it wasn't happening. He's also the kind of guy who builds his own Gummi Ship. Multiple styles. For hours.
I woke up this morning wearing a t-shirt and was regaled of tales of How I Don't Know How To Remove Your Underwear Without Your Help. I've also decided that we could put together a Puss In Boots costume for Jim for BayCon/Fanime with little trouble. He has the boots. He has the hat and the cape. He's got the voice down cold. He's adorable, frankly. But I'm not biased.
Shrek 2 is better than the original in my opinion - worth all the hype and then some. I don't know that the musical soundtrack is better - though there are pieces I have to have now - and all those folks who left as the credits rolled really are TEH STUPID. Stay for the credits. Worth it. Trust me.
And the improvements over the original in animation work on animating people is welcome and lovely to see. Also, if voice direction could get an award instead of a credit, I need to go back and see who did the voice direction. You had a cast of fantastic talent to do the voices, but you could tell someone had a brain at the helm when doing them in the studio - direction was superb. Yeah, yeah, Antonio Banderas, w00t w00t. Somebody got the best voice performance out of that guy I've EVER heard.
Thought we were going to Arby's for dinner, so I chewed water most of the day to compensate (go get the nutritional information from the website, it comes in a PDF format) - all ready to go - and they've removed the Arby's from the mall.
So I got something else.
And I was really good, okay? I kept all the wrappers from the movie candy.
I'll go again in a week or so when we can use the passes we've had for forever.
Looking at the previews, there is a Tom Hanks film coming out called The Terminal which looks like a fantastic idea done right - ever feel like you've lived in an airport terminal? Ever had to? Go.
And it has Tom Hanks in it. Yippee Skippy!
And oh, yeah, Harry Potter film coming out in two weeks - that's a gimme. And it looks damn hot too. Pixar has a new film coming out - and the rest is mind mush.
But I see a lot of films hitting - Garfield, SpongeBob (eww) - lots of money, lots of base attraction to a lot of people - okay, pay up. Those will wait until DVD. Easily.
I'm going to go get dirty now. See ya.

Date: 2004-05-22 09:24 am (UTC)Correction - stay for the credits, but once that bit is over don't stay until the very end of the credits. Silly boyfriends who insist that you do will be very wrong in thinking there may be ANOTHER scene at the very end.

Date: 2004-05-22 09:40 am (UTC)That's why he insisted that we stay - aparantly he knew from somewhere that there was another scene "filmed" wherin the dead Fairy Godmother meets up with the dead Farquart. It must be a deleted scene, and will hopefully be on the DVD. Or so we decided anyway. :)
