It's worth mentioning -
Jun. 28th, 2004 09:46 am98% of the teenage population does or has tried smoking pot. If you're one of the 2% who hasn't, copy & paste this into your journal.
No, I'm not a teenager - however, when I was one, I'd have to say pot was the one big thing going 'round. Not much has changed.
*ACHOO* I'm also allergic to it.
Not pot. Not tobacco. Nada. Zip. Nil. Nothing. Biggest mood-alterer I ever did was prescription Valium. .5 milligram. W00t!
Been drunk? No. I drink, I get sleepy, I snore. End subject.

Date: 2004-06-28 11:53 am (UTC)Oddly enough, my teenage cousins have not tried it either, but other older relatives have, including some I wouldn't expect at all.
Personally, I have problems with any kind of smoke entering my lungs, and the very thought of intentionally subjecting myself to that makes me feel ill. I don't care if others do it, but I stay away from nicotine and marijuana less from any sort of moral viewpoint, and more from a self-preservative one.

Date: 2004-06-28 07:16 pm (UTC)That said - There are a huge number of people who tried or even used marijuana back in the 60s and 70s who are now law-abiding non-drug-abusing middle-aged adults. They grew up, got jobs, needed to stay straight to keep them. It was also a different plant back then - much milder in effect. The growers have been selectively breeding for high THC content for 30+ years. (I base this not on any personal knowledge, but on the reports I see in medical literature.)

You remember the paraquat stuff then, don't you? *brrr* If just the normal effects weren't enough, the fact that you could get poisoned by the pesticide used on the stuff was enough for me to give it all a wide berth.
