I was in the 6th grade and had a teacher I adored, Mrs. Grace Myers. My little brother was in 2nd grade with a really neat teacher. I was keeping house and doing most of the cooking because Mom was working 3-11. Kennedy was running for president, and I go tinot a fight at school because one of the boys said he couldn't be president because he was a Catholic. I punched him in the face and told him he was stupid.
I ended up having to write "I will not punch people in the face" 500 times, and got the daylights beat out of me when my Dad got home.

I remember those days. I didn't have a Dad then - Mom was working 11-7's after Dad passed in 1967.

I could make soup and grilled cheese sandwiches, and was working on roasts by then. *thinks* I know I was reading cookbooks and making stuff out of them -
