Aladdin "very very oh extremely sorry" about Ronstadt flack - and invites her and Michael Moore to sing. No comments from either person yet.

Oh dear. Oh me. I'm sniggering. It's going to be a Planet Hollywood. One of those places partially owned by our Governator. It just makes me giggle.

No, last year you were threatened with violence and arrest for being a terrorist if you played the Dixie Chicks albums. How things change in a year. People just don't like being lied to, yanno.

For your edification, April 8th, 2003.

How do you know? By their actions, not their politics. Don't listen to the rhetoric - watch the behavior. Anyone who thinks that settling a dispute by killing someone as the best course, will likely point the weapon at you just as easily when you don't agree anymore. And it will happen. Stick with the guy who doesn't resort to violence, epithets or temper tantrums to make a point. Tolerance is a overused term - and should only be considered a starting point. Someone who is willing to accept a different point of view for what it is, instead of a personal threat to their concept of reality, is likely going to be a better choice, neh? "You're entitled to like brussell sprouts with peanut butter. I don't. More for you."

And fer the love of mud, stay away from anyone who treats you like a commodity. Oh it's so nice to visit blah-blah's website - and oh look, ADVERTISING for someone else's business! (Roll over the links before you click on them - check the domain names out. Amusing as hell.)

No.

It's not a matter of being liberal or conservative - right or left being equated to correct vs. wrong. It's a matter of knowing what is best, most fair, most menschlich. Humane. That doesn't equate to being weak or a sucker. It's an awareness that you're not the only oyster in the stew and that there is plenty to go around - if we are willing to share what there is. Negotiate. Reasonable people coming to reasonable conclusions.

Not just screaming "Mine! Mine! Mine!" and jumping on it like Daffy Duck.

It's harder work than just throwing it all away - and often requires patience and intelligence, two things I've seen a sorry lack of lately.

In other news, I took a page from [livejournal.com profile] varna and bought some stainless-steel chopsticks. Think they'll let me on the plane with them? I am bringing them to the potluck at work tomorrow - I'll let you know how I do.
