Hello world, I'm up!

There is something to be said about having nearly 500 journals, syndicated feeds and communities to get through in a sitting - but today, one thing jumped out at me immediately.

A lot of LJ'ers lost friends in car accidents the last few days. No, I mean it. A LOT.

Let's be careful out there, okay? *Looks significantly at Jim. Who continues snoring.* Jim just got his new hawtness back from the body shop (some lowlife put a dent in his brand-new fender up in Little Tokyo last time we went) - so he's ready to go. Consumer Reports just put out their recommendations this month for the 2005 models - and the Sentras didn't rate all that high, but then again, I didn't expect them to get the safety rating of a SUV weighing three times as much. I used to have a Chevy Vega. And then, a Ford Pinto. I'm hip.

Let's be careful out there.

I found myself really crying over the deaths of zyrc's friends. The accident was horrible, but having two partners and their dog (and other people -- it was a horrific accident) go in a single instant, really . . . *sigh*

Having three dogs pell mell around the house this morning is a really nice counter to the horror.

For one, the Sentras are probably more fuel efficient, and considering Gas prices right now, I think I would rather have your car over an SUV. =)

No car accident for me, but I had to drag my ass out of bed last night to get throat lozenges because I could not stop coughing last night. Mmmmm Ricola. =)

Anyway, hope the eye is better soon.

One reason I love my Saturn is just how tough the little car is... I've seen pics in the dealership of cars mauled beyond recognition, and the worst any driver or passenger got was a broken ankle. My favorite is the one that stalled on the tracks, got slammed 300 feet down the tracks... and she DROVE IT HOME. And THEN they totalled it. (i.e. the insurance comapny officially said "This costs more to fix than it's worth.")

Not that I won't be careful. But I seriously appreciate that I've got a near-NASCAR-grade roll cage and some seriously fat tires (the latter to help me keep out of situations where I need the roll cage)...

I read a LOT. I also read very fast - and anything that catches my eye, I tend to follow up on.

And I very rarely drop anyone. It's happened, but it's almost an act of God.
