Once again -
Mar. 14th, 2005 03:49 pmWould someone please tell me how the heck any of this is one way or the other, when this was one of the first states to write the definition of marriage as a heterosexual condition into the books?
A judge in California has ruled that the state's ban on gay marriage is unconstitutional.
So the ballot initiative that passed with flying colors waaay back when was unconstitutional? HANH?
You want to know what I blame most for Bush still being in office?
You got it.
No, it's not fair.
Me, I think this is more a fallout of AIDS, Medicare cutbacks and a receeding economy than any 'enlightenment.' People are needing to stick together to survive - and want to tell anyone who asks, 'that person gets everything - THAT person. Not Mom or Dad or Brother or Sister. THAT person.'
Gay marriage ain't about the sex, guys. The sex was always a given - and don't kid yourself. The sex goes on, one way or the other.
No, there isn't a marital state in existance that threatens my marriage. No, I don't think the 'sanctity' of marriage is compromised in any way by a government's definition one way or the other.
But if someone has the ticket to rolling back that ballot initiative in California - then they can, in all of the 11 states they were voted into the last election.
Until then, more time and political cachet is being wasted, and more progressives are getting demonized for their trouble.
The beat goes on.
Hope this works better than the last thing tried. I'm not holding out a lot of hope in the current CW.
