If I thought the cat wouldn't have that great of a life after surgury, or if she was older, I would have most likely opted to have her euthanized. But the surgeon seems extremely confident that she'll make a full recovery. And her spirits are really good. And she's only about 4 years old (not sure how old exactly, since I took her in as a stray.) The surgeon told me he deals with gunshot wounds "all the time", which is seriously fucking disturbing on one hand, but on the other, I can believe him when he says this will be a cakewalk.

Okay, she needs to learn to use the spellchecker.

But when theswede asked yesterday 'who shoots a sweet, tame, kitty in the face' - now you know the backstory.

People can suck so bad. Wish I had a little to donate, having had to have a dog put to sleep because someone shot her =/ Though it's entirely possible my dog was huge and had been into serious mischief and chasing sheep, from what I heard later.. what the hell could a little KITTY do?

I hear/see wayyy too much on animal-loving forums about people whose neighbors shot their babies or fed them antifreeze because "they chased birds" or "poo'd in the garden".. or for no apparent reason at all.

Not that I'd call those REASONS to painfully slaughter a fuzzy part of someone else's family.

I wish I had some money to send to theswede. This is why I blogged for Pasado's Safe Haven during the blogathon two years ago. Not only do they take care of the kitties (and other animals) so tortured, and find them good homes, they get the perpetrators prosecuted.

Stuff never ends - not as long as you live - but if you can keep pitching it back as fast as it comes in, it really isn't all that tough!

OK, I put some in the kitty can. Not a lot, but what I can. I do not understand why people need guns to prove their manhood--I could go there but it would not not be productive of anything but snorting. (Man, I need to get something to eat--my blood sugar is really high. Anger is not good for me.) We have three cats and keep them indoors--no more indoor/outdoor cats. We lost several to neighbors' dogs who were proudly called by their owners "cat killers." Especially after the neighbor's kid's friends shot out their front windows to prove some sort of point. God only knows, and she's pretty disgusted, too.

I am really glad to hear your kitty will make it. It's very hard to walk out of the vet's knowing your best friend won't be coming home again. Right now, we are dealing with a 15-year old diabetic Maine Coon who is still deciding how long he wants to stay on this plane.

Hugs to you and your kitty. Hopefully, by this time, she's back home and feeling at least a little better.
