I considered selling off my prescription speed Ritalin instead of taking it; I didn't want it and I could've used the money, and hey, at least they'd be taking nice clean prescription speed.

I've swapped prescription painkillers between friends more times than I can count - but I'm friends with a lot of folks with chronic pain conditions who can't always get the medications they should. Most of us know more about Vicodin dosages and which NSAIDs it's safe to mix than our pharmacists. And it beats heroin.

Considering how many of today's kids were *forced* to take meds of some sort or another, who can blame them?

Not to mention how it may be at least in part a response to the "just say no" "education" campaigns they didn't expect. Part of the anti-drug materials talk about how you can't trust the dosage of stuff you buy off the street, especially when you're talking about such brews as Ecstasy and methamphetamines. What could be more reliable than a drug made under strict FDA guidelines?

Have you seen the vacation ads (can't recall if they're for Sea World or Disneyland...which indicates that the ad has failed to work on me!) where a pretend big pharma exec thanks the workers of America for working so very hard at their boring jobs and finding happiness in pills? It amused me. :)

When I was in school, it was "Just say no to drugs!" Now it's "Just say no to drugs! - unless your mom/your teacher/your therapist think you should take this particular mind altering drug because it will make you feel better, but the other mind altering drugs that make you feel better are still bad!"
I'l stop before I go on a rant about the school trying to force my son to take meds... *zips lip*

Yep...back in the Day, as it were, we had to make due with Valium and those nasty amphetemines. Each generation finds it's own 'drugs of choice'...and usually it's own favorite liquor too.

These days, Coriciden is kept in the pharmacist section of drug stores because kids use it to get high. Also, I heard someone tell her boyfriend to take Pamprin because you can get a high from that!

Guess those are for kids that don't have a friend that is drugged to the gills.
