I kinda scared D when I heard that on the news.
Started yelling YES!!! again and again and dancing, jumping around.
Poor kid looked at me like he didn't know whether to hide or join in.
"Sorry D, this is just sooooooooo important and it's sooooo good!!"
So he smiled and rocked as I danced and filked happy songs about it.

Only a partial victory. This is what the White House wants. It knows it can't pass the Patriot Act without greater constitutional protections, but they don't want to revise it - they want to make it worse. So instead, they WANT it not to be renewed, let it expire, and focus their efforts on the 2006 reelection campaigns, slamming every Congressman who opposed it. Then, when they've successfully spun it into "Your Congressman hates America!", they can pass the newer, stricter Patriot Act they really want.

As a foreigner, I am unaware of the terrorist cels broken up with the partriot act, yet in that article, a senator says many have been--how many?

I think what may be happening is the Democats and the republicans who oppose Bush and the war smell blood, and know hey can attack without much fear. Before this, 9-11 was carte blanche for the Bush administration to do what it pleased, and everybody was too scared to look like they "opposed freedom". Does this mean a Dixie Chicks comeback is not long away?
