"On September 25, the House of Representatives passed legislation, by a vote of 229 to 189, that would allow health care entities to refuse to provide abortion services or give information regarding those services... This measure is nothing less than a broad and dangerous federal 'refusal clause.' Sometimes called 'conscience clauses,' refusal clauses permit a person or entity to refuse to provide abortion and information about abortion services... This bill threatens women's health and safety because it would permit health care institutions to ignore public health laws that require them to provide pregnant women complete information about all of their options, to treat abortion patients whose health

Let's not get into the abortion right or wrong debate - this is witholding information vital to making an informed decision on one of the most critical points in a woman's life. Good decisions come from having good choices - and the more options you have to choose from, the more likely a good decision will be made. If you wish to end abortion, end the need for them. As I see it, as long as there are desperate women and coat hangers, there will be abortions. Under this bill, nobody will have to discuss even THAT method - or the consequences.. I've sent my fax.
