Boy, if anyone wants to come for my guys with a piece of paper, I sure hope they bring something stronger.

I'm trying to draw some comparisons with other governments I know nearly as well as my own - and I'm coming up short.

Take for example, my favorite comparison I have with the US vs. Switzerland when it comes to hijaked planes.

You do that, land in Zurich and three things are going to happen:

1. They slash the tires.
2. They storm the plane and kill everyone involved (and yes, collateral damage, ie, passengers is acceptable).
3. Nobody will know dick until it's all over. Complete news blackout.

Here?

If FOX thinks it'll draw ratings, it'll be ALL OVER EVERYTHING. Repeatedly. Everyone is going to know about it. Moment by gasped moment.

Good luck with a happy ending. Or any fast ending whatsoever. They get what they want...and the hijakers get EVERYTHING they want.

Don't tell me this latest bunch of SCOTUS-time wasting is going to change any of that - and that it's actually going to be used against anyone the average Joe on the street would consider an "enemy."

My only comfort is that Feinstein didn't sell us out. Boxer was a sure thing - but you never can tell with Feinstein, if it has anything to do with making war.

Even my "conservatives" are appalled this morning, or are totally silent. That too, is comforting.

Welcome to the rest of the world, folks. We're no better than a lot of the rest of the countries out there. And just because of our size, we're a LOT worse.

Not only have the terrorists won, but the Soviets have as well. What, you think we won the Cold War? Bah. We've become that we most hated.

Yes, its a sobering thought that were about as free as the former Soviet Union. I was glad to see Feinstein finally stand up and be counted. The irony is that last night Bush hosted the President of Kazakhstan at the White House, a country noted for torture and people disappearing. I guess Dubya is asking for lessons in being a good dictator. Osama must be celebrating. He won the 'war on terror' when Bush became the ultimate 'terrorist'.

There's a reason that I often wear one of these shirts.

Chilling. I said that very thing last night.

See, I'd almost rather be Soviets. The Soviets, like the Swiss, would've taken Extreme Measures about that shit. (Nobody was stupid enough to take Soviet hostages all through the eighties; the Soviets sent your ambassador and his staff and family home, sometimes in boxes, and heated up the bombers.) Whereas right now, every American overseas is a big fat target.

It is a dark day for our nation, and there have been many since Yosemite Sam was voted into office by the dense.
