Someone was asking about totems. And if I had a one.

If I did, it would be one of two things - a rather large cat (think lioness) or a bird.

You want my attention, stick wings on it. Seriously. I'll happily sit and play with pigeons, lacking anything else.

Then it hit me.

Sparrow.

Ubiquitous, common as dirt - you find them everywhere, and one is much like another - unless you know what to look for.

Fierce as hell - matter of fact, if you're a sparrow, you're more likely to die in the midst of fighting something than anything else. Rather single-minded, that.

So consider.

That would be me -

Tiny.
Cute.
Cheeping.
FURY.

RAR.

(And that cat thing? That's to throw off the other cats. It's that bird thing, doncha know.)

I love Sparrows. They have a great 'interpretation' in terms of 'animal meanings'. A quick Google will tell you what it is. I almost put Sparrows in, too, but they just visit me a lot more than they 'are' me. :)

Sparrow's a darn good totem.

For me, there's the totem I "am", the one whose behavior patterns and so on I resemble most - then there's the totems I work with, or follow, or call on. I was Rabbit in my youth; as I grew and changed, I became Fox. I work with both of those totems, as well as Snake and a handful of others.

Mind you, I get most of my totem stuff from Native American (and other cultures') legends rather than Newage books.
