Turn this to my advantage...somehow

The rocking chair finished - the one of its kind, handmade yadda ya chair is done. Multiple thousands of dollars have changed hands, the whole bit.

The chair - is in Berea, KY. $400 and change to ship it here. I'm asking Jim's mother to hang onto it until the family reunion in June.

Because, well, we'll be there - and maybe I can find a better way to get it home. Cargo on the plane back? I figure at the worst, I'll have to fork the money over - but maybe, I can pack more in the box and make it worth the trip.

I foundered on the thrift/second-hand stores in Berea. You should see the little treasures I found within an hour's search.

And then it hit me - maybe this would be the raffle/fundraiser I've been looking for - except I'm not sure how to structure it.

I'm going to contact some of the consignment/curio places around here and see if there is any interest in me doing a "search" for items that I could turn a profit on.

Ambitious as hell. Well, necessity is a mother and all that.

You might want to look up thrift/Home Renovation stores too. Up here... we have a place called Re-Fit. It is a 'thrift' store, if you will, for re-useable renovation items. The 'store' has everything you'd need for a reno in your home. Only at a four times or even less of the cost of new.

I make extra money doing sewing projects, and refinishing furniture. ^_^ Sometimes I sell a piece of artwork or two. The money is out there, that's for sure!

I love Berea. I used to beg to visit there in the summertimes.. and we always went. I don't know why i didn't go to college there, but...anyway..
