Another one down for the 50 Book Challenge -
5. Too Many Clients, by Rex Stout.
Ah. This is more like it. I'm not a big mystery fan, but I do love me some Nero Wolfe. And there are plenty of them in print, many of which I haven't read yet - so here's a good opportunity to do so.
The books are also not long. Written in first person, that of the assistant, not the main focus - much like a Sherlock Holmes mystery - the prose is catty, witty, concrete, moves the story along without getting long-winded, and is complete in and of itself. Love this kind of stuff - if there is anything I think writing should be, it's that it should always be efficient.
(And the food is always wonderful. Yes, I am a sad, sad fangirl who has the Nero Wolfe Cookbook and uses it on occasion.)
