There's a blank in my read back on my friends list, namely from Friday 12/28 through to 12/30 or so.
I was not home. I was up in the Bay Area seeing friends. I was walking the streets in J-Town and Berkeley, visiting old haunts and finding new ones.
I'd packed the Christmas presents - and then on a lark, tossed in all of the presents I'd put aside for folks coming over Christmas Eve who wouldn't have had pressies otherwise. (I do that. Come to a Christmas party and leave without a present? Not in my world, you don't. It might be homemade and worse, but it's yours. Merry Christmas and all that.) Yes, I had presents spare. Quit looking at me like that.
I'd taken two jars of the pomegranate carnage only to have it confiscated at the TSA checkpoint. D'oh. I may just mail it instead and if you think THAT'S stupid - I'm with you. (Anything I can put in checked luggage that is confiscatable at the scanners...makes no sense at all to me. Matter of fact, that kind of worries me. No, I don't feel any safer for it. Dumb butts.)
When I got there, I found out the Decemberween was the Sunday we left. Oh. Pressies. *counted quickly* I think there's enough. Talk about dumb luck.
It was at
amanda_nye's new digs - and oh my ghad - it's a wonderful house. I've noted a couple of things to memory in case we have to take down our house - or even when making the addition, if that's what comes to pass. Very nicely designed with nooks and crannies and closets and bathrooms that make sense as part of suites...*covets*...and then I started wigging people out as they arrived by just being there.
I gave the gifts I could...and then had to go, leaving lame-ass directions for
silverkun to take up the slack. (He always does. Without complaining or making it look hard.)
I got to see the Zach man - and
ksnarf. I was able to steal import albums into iTunes. I was able to share my Sims game (yes, look - 1605 Sims and it still loads!) and watch people play the Xbox Rock Band game (wow, karaoke that actually works for scoring purposes!).
Spending time with
cyberotic_waste - and meeting Akim.
Next time, I hide Jim's DS.
It was misty and cold the entire time - which reminded me of Switzerland rather acutely at times.
I finally got boat sushi in J-Town - I've been walking past that place for years and never went in. That's got to happen again sometime soon, it was GREAT.
Breakfast Sunday morning equally wonderful. Any place that will serve you both waffles AND crepes (and then add bacon) has my vote.
I do love the place. *sigh*
Thanks, Rey. Hope I can reciprocate soon.

Hope you had fun in SF.

Date: 2008-01-03 03:44 am (UTC)I just downloaded the photos out of my camera. They're going to take some...work...before they're postable. Inconsistent is a really good word to describe them. >_
Oops

You're a bit under the weather right now, if I remember right. You should have gotten at least a share of the pomegranate carnage...if not, I can rectify that at your earliest convenience.
Tea! Yes. We should have tea sometime soon!

Date: 2008-01-03 11:09 pm (UTC)Curry House in Irvine for sure - everything else gravy.
Weather today is very overcast, but dry. I think I prefer the stuff that moistens everything, to be honest.
