Last week was so full of well-intentioned FAIL I'm still reeling.

You usually know when you made a mistake, right? I pulled a boner at work this week, in all the most well-intentioned "this probably will be fine" that WASN'T - and once I stopped long enough to look at it hard enough to realize that yeah, I blew it...it was the sock full of wet sand across the ego you always dread.

Culprit? I still make mistakes 12% of the time. This time, I also compounded it by not wanting to listen to co-worker who warned me multiple times that the decision wasn't what I wanted...because I'd really gotten impatient with the guy for not wanting to hear WHY I'd come to that conclusion. Lesson learned - sometimes, people don't have to hear your side of the story when they're right and you're wrong. Pay attention. Even when annoyed.

*blows air* I've been doing this too long. That, I'll blame as well. Got complacent.

And I just realized that with the hard drive crash, all my tax records from last year are GONE. Paper copies exist...just buried under the leaning tower of CRAP in the office. Not looking forward to digging down into that.

That said, yesterday was a really good day overall - I had my old friend Marian Kelly over, with her daughter for a day of Man From UNCLE and Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone, with homemade tabletop sukiyaki for lunch, FTW. It helps that Jim enjoys this stuff as much as I do - even with him in the shower, and me in my pajamas when they arrived early! (OY. Well intentioned FAIL strikes again!)

Today, I expect to get called into the office for my part of rebooting a big server (they're replacing/adding/reconfiguring hardware) - so if I want some fun time, I'd better get to it.

I've aleady folded all the laundry. I am NOT digging into organizational tasks without Jim here. I end up being the only one who knows where shit is...and I'm tired of that, too.

(I'd also be very remiss if I did not mention the meetup in Norwalk Friday with [livejournal.com profile] 7leaguebootdisk and [livejournal.com profile] cerulean_me. Next time, it's the house so the kids can go toss frisbees, and stuff.)
