Among the other things I tried to introduce into conversations, was the concept of "privilege."

Know it, grok it, understand it...acknowledge it.

Here - in all its unvarnished glory, is the story of a rape...its aftermath, and one victim's search for answers.

What she finds along the way is truly exceptional work.

It's triggery as all hell, but well worth the detour.

EDIT: B0rked link repaired.

Fantastic writing. I need to read this a few more times to process the issues of race, class, gender, privilege, abuse, recovery, and everything.

I am one of the lucky ones. I've not been raped nor has anyone attempted to rape me. I've been threatened with rape, been molested in a way that was barely invasive, and been physically attacked and threatened in my home by a family member. Her story, her depression, her hope, her children, her fears of infecting the whole family, part of her being fragmented....is all too familiar.
