My friend [livejournal.com profile] dragonrankmage is looking for seizure/epileptic support groups - online, in St. Louis and generally wherever he can find them.

Sweet, pagan and very intelligent - but you have petit mal seizures, you end up at Kinko's on overnights or worse.

Yeah, this is the guy who made it possible for [livejournal.com profile] unclejimbo to come out that Christmas to meet me - he worked all his shifts for him. I owe him, big time.

A good friend of mine has epilepsy... I'll ask him if he knows of anything like that :-)

You know I am back in the office when I get time to read peoples journals. Anyhow.... there are several on line things like at EFA.org.... he could try google and Yahoo clubs. When I was surfing around for epilespy and pregnancy I looked at them.

I wasn't impressed with them. Actually I was depressed. A lot of fucked up people on fucked up old drugs. Not that I am some fabulous neurologist but I didn't feel they were recieving great medical care. A lot of desperation. Didn't seem like people hung around long.

I don't know if your pal is at an epilepsy center or seeing the local neurologist. But of course eplipetics are often broke and w/o health insurance so I doubt he could get himself to Stanford or Columbia (NYC).
~sigh~

Scares the crap outta me. If I got into cloning I would be a patient advocate and activist for the population. With one of me and a baby I can't take it on : (

It reminds me of when there was one of me and a very sick diabetic. *nods*

Getting him to Stanford really isn't a problem if you think that would be of best use. Actually, I'd love to move him and his lady to California if I could - they'd be such a good fit for Berkeley, it's scary.

You were the one on Lacrimal, weren't you?

Actually, any advice at all, even on his own care, would be appreciated. Poor Joe is completely on his own back there.

I know that the Cardiac group does second opinion stuff.... I expect Neuro does also. They can even lock you up for a week and you walk around wired for EKG. Yep. 7 days of full monitoring.

He could give them a call and see what they say.

I think it would be great for you to call and do the first informational hunting. After that they may have too many questions about what type of seizures, etc.

And he will probably need to wait 3 months to get an appointment. Then again if he has a nightmare case in the referal they may work him in sooner.

(C'mon, Joe, jump in here anytime...)

Talked to him on messenger this morning - if he doesn't follow through himself, I will.

Nightmare? Weeelll...he's functional, and not experiencing epileptus status - not likely. However, 3 months would allow me to scrounge some housing and such. *chuckle* Although, once he sees the area, I doubt he'll want to leave! He's very much a strange bird where he is - a pagan rennie with an incredibly clever, creative soul.

*crosses everything*
