Heck, even Amazon gets into the act - but if you really want to support local, go check your yellow pages under 'Used Books' and go visit a few stores. Take cookies. You'll be glad you did,

For my older son's 25th b'day, I tracked down a copy of a book he had loved as a small child - I don't think anything else I ever gave him pleased him half as much as that book.
