Bah.

They ran out of cookbooks on Sunday less than twenty minutes after the presentation, which largely was staged and executed at the time the event opened at noon.

I am. Le tres bummed. Oh, well.

I have a couple of ass cellphone shots that I can't move off the phone, and probably won't keep - but I can recall the dish made, and it has some features that intrigue me.

Live lobster, notwithstanding.

Take some fresh garlic and shallots, mince and saute in some olive oil.

Add a can of crushed tomatoes, some V-8 juice and thai basil. Take a block of firm tofu, slice into chunks and add.

Take a daikon radish - peel, and if you're l33t with the knives, make a paper-thin strip by slicing around the circumference and slice into fettuccine-like strips (for the rest of us, make strips with a vegetable peeler). Put in heavily salted water. (This draws out the moisture, making the "noodles" soft).

Kill and steam the lobster, shell and cut meat into chunks and add to tomato mixture reducing by simmer on the stove. Drain the noodles and add to mixture until warmed through - serve. (Garnish with a bit more basil, and grate some romano cheese on top - just a bit.)

It smelled wonderful. It also looked like enough to feed four.

Tea ceremony presentations aren't until next weekend. Bah twice.

We got the book, and got it signed. Really wanted to talk to the fellow a bit more, but I can also take a hint to move on and let other people chat a bit as well. Bummer, v. 3.0.

And we're back to Monday morning again, now in progress.

Very quickly, because I'm leaving for my second day of Tofu Festival/Nisei Week activities (today, Morimoto book signing - w00t!) and [livejournal.com profile] caitlin is already here.

But today, intentionally, I'm calling in the dogs early. Yesterday, I fwumped after dinner, got a shower and then tucked into bed shortly thereafter. Could. Not. Hold. Eyes. Open.

I lost my sunglasses yesterday. I am tres bummed because they were the expensive ones - I have a $30 set in the car, but it's just not the same. *grumble*

The swag this year is just incredible. I have all the tofu-shaped hand fans one could use. And a ton of recipe books. And coupons.

And I have more places to cover today that just didn't get attention yesterday. Welcome to Nisei Week.

Come on down!

Sims2 needs Windows Server to work on the Mac. How do I know this?

It crashed the Mini last night. As in lock up, unplug and restart, lock up.

Amazing.

Jim's been getting his transcripts in from the two colleges he attended before finishing his clinical at the VA, (he challeged the registry exam and passed it on his own) - I am so amused by what I find there.

Remember, he did one of the two A's in that Japanese class we did a few years ago. Me, a good solid B like the bulk of the class.

*looks* He did A work in both Anatomy & Physiology and Medical Terminology.

That A & P class is what kills most nursing students and washes them out of programs. They just can't get their heads around it. He aced it.

And I understand now why he gets so frustrated with receptionists who order the wrong exams because they don't understand the terminology.

Heh. This is someone who deserves a college education. He'll enjoy it immensely.

Wonder how many classes he'll need to finish the AA....
