Saved by the FL!

Me, I personally love the stuff - I'll even poke out the citron (WHY) as long as it's less than nine months old. (Yes, you can age this stuff like cheese...except it's not cheese....)

This year, it was just too expensive to make. (When the candied fruits are $7 a container? No, Skippy can't justify making this stuff for nearly $50 a loaf. Can't.)

See you tomorrow!

I like Fruitcakes as well. My mother does to, and she is always very happy to get one each christmas from her brother. My sisters make fun of her. :(

[livejournal.com profile] _darkvictory does a fruitcake that's more like a dense spicecake studded with nuts, raisins, dates, dried apricots, dried apple, currants and soaked in bourbon. No brightly colored citron or anything like that, just dense, sweet, vaguely alcoholic goodness.

I want to add my vote for Fruit Cakey Goodness.
It's just not the holidays without a slice of fruitcake with my morning coffee.
