Okay.

Latest word is we *won't* be traveling the week of Chinese New Year. This is a guess - not a guarantee.

It's probably why we haven't gotten travel dates yet. And we are all pretty sure we won't get notification of the final decree - we'll just be told to show up, and take him home.

*sighs*

Oh, you poor kid. This is NOT what I wanted for you.

The week of Chinese New Year is MAJOR TRAVEL SEASON. Seriously busy and high-priced. Air, train, bus, hotel. Since many Taiwanese in Taipei are from other parts of the country, there's tons of travel back home and down south. Day after Lunar New Year's Day is when traditionally wives go to visit their parents, too. And again, a lot of travel back home and down south.

Sorry to hear that its been delayed! But I do have to agree with another commenter -- Lunar New Year is probably the worst time for travel since everywhere will be probably be crowded due to the holiday.

Given that Chinese New Year basically starts this weekend, everybody is likely already in pre-holiday mode right now.

Though the actual day itself (1/26) should be pretty light- kind of like travelling on Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day.
