I do drop off right now, but I prefer pick up. Drop off makes me sad sometimes still, but pick up is fun and happy. If I get an earlier schedule, my husband is totally doing drop off. Plus it takes longer for me to get out the door than it does for him, so for practical reasons, it would probably work better for him to do it anyway.
Jim used to do drop off because he slept later and I would do pick up because I got in early and could leave early. It was all part of a strategy to have Jake at daycare as little as possible.
The New York Times had an article relevant to your interests. Apparently quite a few now-unemployed men are taking on the mommy role, even joining PTA's and giving them the benefit of their job experience in the financial biz...
