Oh...and tell a friend.

Oh lord, Trovix. Good luck to everyone trying to fight through that maze unless you have someone at Stanford lined up to put in a good word for you to the relevant people. They are FLOODED by recent grads right now, it's really depressing.

Still, best of luck if anyone wants to try for it! I've just become jaded by their job application system after watching non-Stanford-boys-club friends be rejected eight times over. And this is from a future grad.

*chuckles* The lead came from the HR person trying to fill the position...I have a hard time believing it, but OMG they can't find anyone!

That's the annoying thing. THEY KEEP GETTING APPS AND SAYING THEY CAN'T FIND SOMEONE. Apparently you have to have a magical combination of amazing charisma, 3x the "minimum experience" posted on the site, etc.

Granted, my friends are applying for jobs in very different departments, but it's just frustrating to watch. The system is baffling.

Typically in an economy that is contracting, employers tend to hold out for the best they can get because of the demand for work. It's possible that the HR person keeps submitting resumes s/he has screened, but that then department heads reject. Not in the HR business, mind you, but I'm unemployed and in need of distraction enough that I have been reading HR blogs off and on the past month. They can't take those positions down until whoever requested the job says "we've hired candidate X". So what the HR person might be trying to say is "I can't find anyone that will satisfy whatever picky boor in my company who is allegedly hiring.", but without saying it openly (I would bet they are thinking it, though).

I would not be surprised if whoever originated the request didn't really need anyone, so they are waiting for someone with 3x the minimum qualifications before they will hire anyone. :(
