The cultures came back negative for strep.

Yeah, I know. I wasn't being cultured for that. There's a call in to the doctor for the WTF.
If they botched the test, I'm getting my H1N1 shot and making sure the family does too - and lie my ass off.
I've taken four days off work. If this wasn't H1N1, I'm dead meat.

Date: 2009-11-20 06:07 pm (UTC)Bottom line: CDC guidelines would strongly argue that if you've had a influenza-like prodrome, you can reasonably be assumed to have had influenza -- and this year, that's overwhelmingly H1N1.

Date: 2009-11-20 06:13 pm (UTC)It's not uncommon for doctors to test for strep in addition to other things when there is extreme respiratory distress and you either (a) have a child or (b)work with kids. I had strep throat myself a couple of years back (wouldn't have known without testing for it), and it was nasty and vile and wouldn't go away. So it would be something your docs would want to test for in addition to H1N1.
