kyburg: (Christmas)

Good morning! November has been kicked to the curb and I got to open the first window in my chocolate advent calendar - it's all good.

Welcome to the season of advent in my journal. For those of you new to the game, I try to post something 'neat' every day leading up to the 25th, Christmas Day - links, recipes, music, what have you.

This year, I may even do some flash fiction. You've been warned. You want to prompt me? You can try - I can't vouch for the results.

For today, since this is the year of the remastering and re-release of the Beatles catalog, I'm reposting some old links from years past.

Back in the day, the Beatles had a fan club. (No, really. Just one.) And every year, they released a Christmas card on that disposable vinyl record tucked into the magazine.

Some bright penny saved them, converted them to .mp3 and put them where I could find them. And now, where you can find them. Enjoy! (Right-click and save as)

"Some bright penny saved them..."

Very appropriate! I recall those disposible records usually required putting a coin or 2 on them to give them enough weight for the turntable to work... (Yeah, I'm old!)

*checks* Ah, you don't list the year in your profile! Wuss.

Christmas when I was five was my first record player. Oh yes. I remember the penny trick well.

Oh yes!, I remember that too! I didn't have Beatles fan club records, but other stuff that would come with magazines and the like.

I need to find myself a calendar too!
For that matter, I wish I could find some Willisauer Ringli and Basler Laeckerli and Brunsli and Zimtstaernli and... *sigh*

I've got cookbooks. I'll post recipes.

Yay, recipes! That would be excellent.
Most of those I do have recipes for, more or less, but the one I've never been able to find are the Willisauer Ringli (or one for Laeckerli that looks like it might produce something edible, but not involving potash).
Looking forward to recipe exchanges :)

Now if I could just find some dried green beans somewhere...
