Last time I checked, I was Right Next To one of the biggest INS offices relative to Mexico in the country.

And flying someone to El Paso, TX on short notice couldn't be cheap.

So - they're doing this to someone they took out of their home, then transported them somewhere four states away, to what good purpose?

I mean. Los Angeles. Right here. CHEAP.

This whole thing is far more expensive than it should be, on both sides. What ARE we paying for, again?

That would be...

our tax dollars at work. Believe me, INS is not the only government agency with a penchant for playing "hide the ball". Just as an example - I file my Fed taxes with the Fresno office; the notice I received saying they were denying my exemption for my son directed me to send documentation to an office in Hicksville, N.Y.; while that was pending, I received a billing notice from Ogden, UT; then I received a letter from an office in Massachusetts, reassuring me that they were still processing my information. In the meantime, I called a number that was included with the Ogden billing, spoke with a representative, and straightened the whole thing out in about ten minutes. The refund hit my bank account this week.

The Federal government - Customer Dis-service on a grand scale. (This is the only area in which I actually agree with the Republican argument that we need smaller federal government.)

ICE and the INS routinely hide people or move them so as to mske it hard for the detained to have their attorney present. They are in the business of deporting not resolving problems. They have thousands of 'secret jails' hidden in industrial parks all over the country.
