Update from preschool/Upsorn

Hi Parents,


We received a letter from Ms. Upsorn today. Ms. Upsorn wrote one to our parents and to our staff. It brought tears to our eyes. I wanted to share the letter she wrote to our parents with you....


To All of the Parents at Beach Babies,


I'm so sorry I didn't get a chance to tell you about my emergency leave. I miss all of the parents and babies. I wish I could have said good-bye and let you know what had happened. I am so thankful for all of the support... I will never forget it until the day I die. All of your letters made me feel so good and gives me the strength to fight for my case. I hope the judge will let me out soon. I promise I will work harder than I did before. Please promise me that you will still wait for me at Beach Babies.

Make of that what you will. $5,000 to the guy who got her into this mess, $8,500 to the guy to *begin* to get her out (if that's possible) - forget the fact she's four states away from her children, her job and any other means of support.

The more I hear about this, the more it appears that she will not get out of it. If she fell out of status (due to the attorney), had a hearing and didn't go to it (her choice), and then the INS came to her house (usually only done if there is already deportition charges pending), that doesn't look good. The judge is going to want to know why she didn't make the hearing, she was given a chance already to fix the situation. If she's been out of status for 180 days or more, which if she had a hearing and didn't go, etc... is likely, she's screwed. That's the harsh reality.

I would rather send her money to help her start a new life back in Thailand with her kids, because that will not be easy, and a better use for the money. Hopefully she has family back in Thailand that can help her when she gets there.

I'm going to say no news is good news - but it would appear they are moving the auction closing dates up a week to get them done sooner.

I've never dealt with this myself - but the very idea they moved her from Los Angeles to El Paso for no good reason I can discern (we HAVE the facilities here, they are USED all the time!) does not sit comfortably with me.
