Quick Weekend Wrap Up -
Aug. 16th, 2010 11:44 amNo, I haven't been here since Thursday. The weekend went well, but there were things on the list that got jettisoned - and not being on the intarnets? Prime - first thing to go. I have people to socialize with, take sightseeing, play with and yeah - so I catch up with you now. (Anything I should know?)
There are pictures, and I'm sure there will be more tonight so - wait for them.
I have a very happy five year old today. If he manages not to jump out of his skin at school today, I will consider it a completely successful mission.
Dinner tonight is at Buffalo Wild Wings, which reminds me. (Gotta call 'em.)
We managed Nisei Week on Saturday, King's Hawaiian (and Park Time) on Sunday - with the most AWESOME kid's birthday on record at My Gym in the afternoon, EVAR - he's got two laundry baskets FULL of presents to open when he gets home tonight.
(Unfortunately, someone thought a lightsaber was a great gift - which means he gets The Talk about weapons before he gets access to his own present, FAIL, but that's what The Mommy is for. 9_9)
I also do believe my kid is smitten for an older woman. She's 10 and they bonded over Pokemon. Ah, youth. *laughs* He wants playdates. She's going to Scotland with her family for a vacation. Ah, love will wait for her return. (And I predict the teachers at school are going to wonder where the sudden interest in Scotland came from.)
My sister wants him for an overnight stay - and other kids want playdates - and is it possible that we might get time during waking hours, not at work, where he is doing something - and we might not be needed every waking moment? That would be different. It might also be awesome - for every kind of reason.
People got a good look at my evenings Saturday night. Yes, it does suck that loud. *shrug* You do what works, it often means shaving off pieces to make it fit. That's cryptic and it can stay that way.
I swore up and down the kid would thud on the way home from his party. Nope. Too hungry. He got a full dinner down, a bath, television - the only concession was no book reading, just a story in bed. THEN, the thuddage occurred. I haven't seen him sleep that soundly in a very, very long time. Only one call of nature during the night - compared to last year? This is also very reassuring. Woke up happy and ready to go - which is also different.
Best Birthday ever.
So much more - but I have to go get fed or I'll fall over. Catch up some more soon -

Date: 2010-08-16 07:45 pm (UTC)I can so relate to the feeling of being needed all the time. We have that with Alan a lot! And the amazing feeling when he's not around and having fun with a friend or relative.
