Facebook, you are a very scary place. I mean, where else can I go to discover I'd be tarred and feathered...or I would be the one with the tar and feathers for some lucky person...if I went back to where I was spawned, and tried to have a decent conversation about Auschwitz uh Manzanar uh Park51? I mean, REALLY?

This really hits me two ways - one, you have GOT to be kidding me - and two? I studied this crap in high school. I do NOT appreciate seeing a real life enactment of anti-*something* sentiments by broke, hungry, unemployed Americans. I don't.

Two hours drive from here. Where's the customs checkpoint.

I am so angry right now. And then I want a moat and a drawbridge.

That, and I got the phone call from Sis - not Mom, my 14 years younger niece collapsed at work today and is now in the ER. Oh, the things they may find now that they have her.

Not happy.

Hope the boys are having a better day.

If I could gather all my friends in my yard, with a set of misters spraying, GoodFoodz™ on the grill, drinkies in the fridge and icechest, and hide for a week or twelve with them (along with suitable entertainment for same), I'd so be there. And there would be space with all ya'll's name on'em.

I hear you on really not liking the tude being foisted off onto hungry broke Americans. I get angry seeing beggars, and it's clearly *not* their own fault. This is not how things used to be. This is not the way things should be. This doesn't even effing compute, logically speaking these people are all desperately needed somewhere, we need them doing things that matter, not swimming in limbo like this.

Oh yeah. And the kids really don't believe it, except as some nostalgic 50's Roy Rogers fantasy (possibly with Mom in gingham dresses making frosted cake) which is even more annoying. Startles them to hear the idea that public spaces would never have somebody sleeping on the sidewalk, people would've been shocked at seeing it and try to find out what was wrong. I still find it reprehensible. We're richer than *that*, even in the depths of a serious depression.
