But dear, you can't lecture to save your life. If I fall asleep in your classes - like clockwork - and can't follow your line of reasoning the rest of the time? Something is up.

I totally would, and have thought about it as recently as earlier this week. My eighth grade math teacher was a horror. I would be happy to thank him for setting me behind so much that high school math was a breeze. He would tell the entire class they were stupid and was surprised when we did not do well. "You think I am stupid? OK, let me live up to that expectation. The idiot's math class you put me in freshman year of high school? Half of the student were from your classes. In a high school that had at least 6 grade schools funneling kids into it each year. Half. Do the math, big guy. Oh, and that teacher actually said I was the smartest person in the class. But I knew that already, despite your assertions."
